My presentation

Environmental Ethics
Hello, guys. I’m Masaya Oota from Nagoya. So I’m talking about approaches & considerations for environments in Nagoya.
First, do you know Mei-chari 2010 which was carried out last year. Mei-chari was bicycles which you can ride them whenever you want if you register. There are 30 bicycle park area we call them station about 9 from Nagoya.st to Sakae. You don’t need to return them to the station. It is really useful when you are going to somewhere is far by walk but near by taxi. If you borrow them all day, you pay only 300 yen!! So you can go directly to where you would like to go and it is cheaper than riding train. Also they were bicycles left in no-parking zones around the station. We can solve the problem of bicycles left in no-parking zones around the station and achieve eco at the same time. It is truly a case of killing two birds with one stone.
This Mei-chari projects are supported by the graduate environment course in Nagoya university. It was held for two days two years ago and two months last year. I think this is a social experimentation for breaking away from motorization. Certainly there are a lots of traffic in the center city especially holiday and the period of festival. Also there are some problems such as air pollution by exhaust fumes and traffic noise. Decreasing traffic jam and changing traffic system from vehicle to train or bicycle are well considered approach. Also it introduced concretely community bicycle which is a new system. But there isn’t nothing agenda. Sometimes one person occupy a bicycle for a long time. We must investigate appropriate to place stations, make Mei-chari more popular and need to the moral.
In conclusion, I think eco and environmental problems are not only producing new energy and technology but also eliminating waste.
